With lovers of GTA becoming more and more dissatisfied with the lack of information around the update for this popular game particularly with the release of the PS5 at some point this year, we have to ask is this then end of the road for GTA franchise?
At a recent digital event at Sony, some information has come to light. Michael, Franklin and Trev will appear in more adventures on the new generation console. But this is the problem, so what! Aren’t we bored with the terrible trio? Have the writers run out of steam?
This is what we know so far – the new generation of GTA will feature a full range of technical improvements, performance enhancements and visual upgrades to take advantage of the latest hardware, making the game more responsive than ever. That dear friend could mean anything, and be about any game in the PS5 itinerary.
In line with the upgraded PS5, there will also be a new standalone version of GTA accessed without downloading the entire game and the good news is this will be available for free but only for PlayStation 5 players during the first three months.
An incentive for sure additionally, all PSP members on PS4 or PS4 Pro will get GTA$1,000,000 put into their (in-game) Maze Bank account within 72 hours of the initial log-in and then each month they play GTA Online until the launch of GTA Online on PlayStation 5.
Incentive or bribe? If the games as good as they have said it is definitely an incentive and great business ploy after all whos not going to upgrade to continue to get all these benefits while they last.
So all we can do it wait and see. While we’re waiting at it lets look at what Sony is saying about the new games released.
Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time
This game is updated with new gameplay art and animated cartoons, with wide-open vistas giving the feeling of depth to the game. Expressive animation throughout but what is excellent is the fact Bob changes outfits more often and the play features exciting challenges including zip-lines and ladders, introducing new characters through the game. A classic crash gameplay.
Braid: Anniversary Edition
New adventures feature in this edition, but the best thing about this game is the ‘how too’ tutorials showing anyone who wants to know how to make video games. While this is great, it does make you wonder if they ran out of ideas on this one.
Spelunky 2
Looks just like SuperMario in style but with rich dimensions and imagery and play but the updated version will include a multiplayer function and with a huge emphasis on an in-game community with teaming up encouraged. With all sorts of hidden passages and locked doorways ready to access as you progress.
Bugsnax
The only thing I can about this is that the characters have terrible mock Australian accents, and this stops me from going any further with this game. Designers stop treating gamers who like this type of game bread heads – although!
The Pedestrian
The pedestrian is great, cute and quirky platforming game. It is using a stick figure form that uses signs and pictures to play. Features puzzle elements as you try to make a path through to the street above – an intelligent game for bread heads.
Vader Immortal – Star Wars
Only on PSVR after previously launching on Oculus, Vader Immortal will let you master the force and battle against Darth Vader – this is part game part film. At the same time, the VR platform brings the game alive, the storyline is BORING (just my humble opinion), but if you a resident of Tatooine, you’ll love it.
TemTem
If you love Pokemon then this is the game for you, so Pokemon it might as well be Pokemon. Calling all lovers of anime and manga this one is for you complete with point bras and hair whips.
GodFall
The last game I will review, and this one is for all fans of aggressive slasher games with a brand new loop progression system and moment to moment action play. Very fast-moving and you get rewarded for aggressive play with an online cooperative. With a multiplayer action included.
So that was the round-up of games from Sony earlier this month, and we still don’t have a release date for the new PS5 console, so some of these updates are just an entree to the main course, yet to be announced.
