The rivalry between Microsoft and Sony has some serious repercussions for the titles gamers may enjoy—even on their own consoles.
With some exciting projects in the pipeline, fans have a lot to look forward to this year. There are few PS5-exclusive titles for console fans right now, and Sony intends to port many more to PC as time passes. Still, this may only suit gamers who like to use their PC for gaming experiences that are unavailable on their PS5 at the moment, including online video poker for real money and other wagering titles available on desktop devices. Hardcore console gamers will certainly want to see more exclusive titles be made available for their favorite gadget.
Thankfully, it seems this is something that could be about to happen. Below are some of the most anticipated PS5 exclusives for 2023.
Season: A Letter To The Future
Season: A Letter to the Future, developed by Scavengers Studio, casts players in the role of a young lady riding her bike across the globe in an effort to document as much of the planet as possible before a catastrophic event wipes it clean. A player’s goal is to visit as much of the globe as possible, talk to as many interesting individuals as possible, and discover as much as they can.
By utilizing the Ps5’s DualSense haptic feedback and 3D Audio, the game will provide a rather more compelling experience for all gamers. Exclusive to PlayStation consoles, the indie game Season: A Letter to the Future will launch on the 31st of January 2023, for both PS4 and PlayStation 5.
The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR
You shouldn’t just keep an eye out for Horizon: Call of the Mountain if you’re interested in virtual reality games for the PlayStation—Supermassive Games is working on something massive.
Unlike most rodeos, The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR really gives you a chance to fight back for the better half of the experience. Though an on-rails shooter, this Dark Pictures title features the regular frights fans have grown to anticipate.
The only difference is you can desperately fire back at whatever horror is brought your way. Those who have played the previous games in The Dark Pictures Anthology will recognize some of the locations used in this release.
Evotinction
For us, Evotinction represents the future of the Stealth Action genre. But that’s just a wild assumption on our side; we have yet to determine if Evotinction will strike the mark, particularly given the relative anonymity of Spikewave Games’ development team.
But that shouldn’t be an excuse, especially for bias— China appears to be experiencing a game creation boom right now, and this could be the game that finally breaks the country out of its gaming obscurity. Besides, from what we’ve seen in the trailers, Evotinction is shaping up to be a fantastic release.
Stellar Blade
Stellar Blade, formerly referred to as Project Eve, is the first Triple-A title being developed by South Korean studio SHIFT UP Corporation exclusively for the PlayStation 5 console. Midway through production, Sony purchased the marketing rights to the game and declared that it would be releasing the game due to its promising prospects.
The game was developed by the same studio that brought you NIKKE: Goddess of Victory for mobile devices, so you can expect a similar experience. On the surface, the game’s visuals are stunning, but the action-adventure, hack-and-slash gameplay is what we’re really anticipating.
Eternights
In the upcoming ‘Early 2023’ adventure Eternights, you and your fellow survivors will do your best to save the world, fall in love, and survive the harsh realities of a post-apocalyptic society.
The Eternights reveal trailer did an excellent job of showcasing the game’s distinctive blend of love story and tactile combat, with an emphasis on the cave exploration and courtship that may be required.
Eternights comes off as intriguing, especially for freaks of anime, and it combines elements of both action role-playing games and dating simulations.
MARVEL’s Wolverine
The announcement that Hugh Jackman would reprise his role as Wolverine in Deadpool 3 has reignited fan excitement for the character and, by extension, for this forthcoming Insomniac Game.
But unfortunately, fans of both Wolverine and MARVEL will have to wait a while longer for the game. Insomniac Games is currently swamped with another project and there’s no set date for Wolverine’s launch yet.
Given how few exclusive games there are on the PS5 at the moment, this is still really exciting news.
Spider-Man 2
It’s impressive that Insomniac Games can juggle two such high-profile projects, and we’re crossing our fingers that both Wolverine and Spider-Man 2 live up to expectations.
The good news, though, is that Insomniac Games has a spotless reputation in this area, so all we can do is wait patiently while they work their magic on the sequel. New footage from Spider-Man 3: No Way Home has increased anticipation for the game, and, oh, to avoid spoilers, we’ll just leave the rest unsaid.
Meanwhile, you can catch Spider-Man right now on PC. You may want to try it out. Have some fun and let us know what you think!
