As we head into the Spring months, we are happy to say that we have already witnessed and played several excellent new video games which we will talk with you about in further detail in this article.
2023 is set to be an absolutely cracking year in terms of video game releases and there are still numerous enormously exciting games which will be released in the coming months. As usual, the team here at PS5 Home have done our best to include a variety of games, so there should be something for everyone on this list.
Hogwarts Legacy
The game which Harry Potter fans have long been waiting for, Hogwarts Legacy takes you into Hogwarts as a fifth year student. Set 100 years before the Harry Potter timeline, in Hogwarts Legacy, you get to create and customise your very own Hogwarts student as well as pick your own Hogwarts House. In truth, it does not matter too much which house you are sorted in, as the story and side quests remain the same no matter which house you belong to. After having played Hogwarts Legacy, I love the Slytherin Quests, especially exploring Salazar Slytherin’s dungeon. As a side note, it is possible to view the Basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets by looking through a crack via a bathroom near the Slytherin common room.
You can learn a variety of different spells and the combat system is a lot of fun. The game reminds me a little of Star Wars: Fallen Order in terms of encountering new enemies and exploring the world. The developers behind Hogwarts Legacy have already announced that the game will have a sequel as well as DLC. Hogwarts Legacy is well-worth playing if you haven’t already picked it up.
Dead Space (Remake)
Remakes and remasters are one of the hottest new trends in gaming right now. Many gamers have been looking forward to this one, especially those who played the original Dead Space on their PS3s. This is a remake of the first Dead Space release which sees the game’s protagonist trapped on a spaceship in space. Of course, the character is not alone. Dead Space is a horror/survival game so do not expect an easy-ride.
This Dead Space remake is not a simple face-lift of the original though, the spaceship USG Kellion has been restored completely and offers a remarkable area for being hunted by aliens.
Shoulders of Giants
A Frog. A sword. A Robot. A laser gun. What’s not to love about Shoulders of Giants when you can seamlessly swap between a crazy Frog and a bad-ass robot? An utterly novel and fantastic concept which involves perspective shifts when you change from playing as the robot character to the frog, Shoulders of Giants will have you wondering why such a concept has not happened before. Shoulders of Giants offers a tonne of customisation options too and which adds to how playable this game really is.
Wild Hearts
An action role playing game located in a fantasy world inspired by the Japanese Feudal age, Wild Hearts was released in February 2023 to decent reviews. This game requires players to hunt down huge monsters and is a fun game which offers less stress and difficulty compared to Elden Ring, for example.
According to Wild Hearts creators, the game’s narrative can be completed in around 30 hours, so it offers a nice experience which is neither too long nor too short to complete. Wild Hearts is definitely best played on the PS5 as gamers have reported several bugs on the PC version of the game.
Serial
One of the latest online slot games released in 2023, Serial is themed around serial killers, if you can believe it! Horror themed slot games are getting more popular and Serial certainly offers a unique experience as the slots reels are formed up of images of different fictional serial killers!
