The Best Gaming Monitors For PS5

Not everyone wants to play their PS5 on a gigantic TV in their living room. For some people, the best PS5 gaming experience is to hook up their favourite monitor and start enjoying their favourite games on that display instead. There are plenty of reasons to choose a gaming monitor for PS5 gaming instead of a TV; they’re more compact, they can often be cheaper than a larger display, and there are more and more options that are being designed with Sony’s new console in mind. Without further ado, let’s take a look at some of the best gaming monitors for PS5 gamers.

Best overall: Gigabyte AORUS FV43U

Make no mistake: the Gigabyte AORUS FV43U is not a casual gamer’s monitor. If you want the best gaming monitor for PS5 play out there, then it’s hard to argue with Gigabyte’s monstrosity. It’s not cheap and it’s not minimalist; this is very much a “gamer’s” display, complete with lots of jagged edges and “extreme” design trends. It’s also absolutely gorgeous to look at, with an incredible colour gamut, a sharp display, and a 144Hz refresh rate that will make every game feel buttery-smooth. If money is no object, then this is the monitor for you.

Best budget monitor: Acer Nitro XV240Y

Monitors are second only to headphones in the department of “nice tech, shame about the name”; the full moniker for this beast is the Nitro XV240YPbmiiprx. You can just call it the Nitro 24, though, as it’s a 24-inch full HD gaming monitor with a 2ms response time and a 165Hz refresh rate. Those features are pretty impressive in a sub-£200 device, and you won’t pay more than that for this display. It doesn’t have the deepest blacks or richest colours, but for the price, it’s an astounding monitor.

Best large monitor: Philips 559M1RYV

Another great gaming monitor option with a laughably terrible name (seriously, what’s wrong with just naming them after animals or something?), this Philips offering is absolutely colossal. It’ll tower over any gaming setup thanks to its massive 55-inch screen, and of course, it’s a 4K display with a 144Hz refresh rate, making it ideal for PS5 gaming. Don’t let the “designed for Xbox” tag fool you; this is a perfect option for gamers of any stripe.

Best portable monitor: G-STORY 15.6” Portable Monitor

This monitor claims to be designed specifically for PS5, which means that you know your console will work brilliantly with it. Indeed, that turns out to be the case; the G-STORY 15-inch portable monitor displays PS5 games crisply and clearly thanks to its stunning 4K display. This monitor also comes complete with two HDMI ports, so you can easily switch between devices whenever you need to. It does need external power, so it’s perhaps not the most portable option on the market, but given its functionality, that’s a small price to pay.

Best monitor for esports: BenQ MOBIUZ

Finally, a monitor with a name that’s easy to pronounce (although MOBIUZ isn’t going to win any points for originality). BenQ’s monitor boasts some fairly large bezels and a rather divisive design, but it also has an impressive 1ms response time, making it ideal if you’re using your PS5 competitively. It tops out at 1920×1080, so if you want to see what the PS5 can really do graphically then this won’t be the display for you, but if performance trumps visuals, then pick this one up.

Best ultra-high frequency monitor: Alienware AW2521HF

Alienware is already a household name in the world of PC gaming, but it brings that expertise to bear on its peripheral offerings too. The AW2521HFA comes complete with Alienware’s signature chunky sci-fi design, but it also comes with a blisteringly fast 240Hz display, so your eyes will never miss a single frame. You’ll need to connect speakers to this one if you want the full intended experience, but you can also connect headphones provided you have a 2.5mm adapter.

Best 4K budget monitor: ASUS TUF VG289Q

This monitor regularly goes for around £330, which is a steal considering what it can do. Don’t let its meagre 60Hz display fool you; it’s capable of full 4K resolution despite its relatively dinky size, so you know you’re getting a sharp, crisp picture. What we like most about this monitor is the ease with which you can access its ports and connectors; they’re on the side, unlike most monitors, which usually situate them across the bottom or on the back of the unit.

Best curved monitor: Samsung Odyssey G5

Some people prefer curved displays for the greater immersion and viewing angles they offer. If you’re one of them, then you could do a lot worse than this offering from Samsung. It’s got a 1440p display that offers 1ms response time and 144Hz refresh rate, which should be plenty for any gaming experience you care to mention. You can also take full advantage of HDR10 on this monitor, so if you want to see your PS5’s colours pop and come to life, this is the display for you.

These are just some of our favourite gaming monitors for PS5 gamers. If you don’t see something you like here, just remember: whatever option you choose, opt for at least 1440p (if you can) and try to aim for a 144Hz refresh rate as well. Which ones are your favourites? Are there any that we’ve missed? Let us know!
