Who doesn’t love free stuff?
We have some good news if you haven’t logged in to Final Fantasy XIV for a hot minute. Square Enix is currently hosting a Free Login Campaign for the MMO again. If you’re eligible, you can return to the game and play for free for a limited time. If you think we’ll see more of these small events in the future, you’re right on the mark. This isn’t the first time Square has offered free game time to players that don’t have an active subscription. Now and then, they bring campaigns back such as this. For example, the Free Login Campaign reappeared in June 2022 and gave players up to four days (96 hours) of free game time. And with a little effort to qualify, you can grind for more FFXIV Gil without renewing your subscription—at least for a while.
The Requirements
If you have an FFXIV account, the requirements are relatively simple. To access the Free Login Campaign for Final Fantasy XIV, you’ll need to have had at least 30 days of inactivity on your account. Your account must have gone without an active subscription for the said period. Moreover, you must have purchased the game at any point in the past. This could be the base game (A Realm Reborn), an expansion, or a pack from the FFXIV store.
Once you log into Final Fantasy XIV, the four days of free game time will begin immediately. When it ticks down, it will not pause even when you log out of the MMO. So, plan your days accordingly to get the most out of the game time. For starters, if you have a lot of time on your hands during the weekends, we recommend you start the Free Login Campaign on a Friday.
Getting Into the Intricacies
There are only three steps you need to take if you want to take advantage of the ongoing campaign:
- Make sure that you complete all the requirements within the campaign period
- Launch the client for Final Fantasy XIV and log in
- Return to Eorzea
As stated previously, only the players whose last active subscription was over a month ago can take part in the Free Login Campaign. Other than that, Square Enix has also noted a couple of notes regarding the event.
Firstly, if you have more than one service account registered to a single Square Enix account, you won’t be able to participate if at least one of your accounts has an active subscription to the MMO. Moreover, the free login period will only be valid for the first service account you select when logging in.
Another point is that service accounts suspended or canceled due to a violation that goes against the service agreement cannot take part. And if you’ve been wondering whether you should purchase a subscription while your free game time is still running, don’t. Lastly, anyone who purchases a subscription during their free period will have to forfeit their remaining time duration on their account.
What’s the Point of the Free Login Campaign?
Suppose you’re the type of person that stays away from lengthy queues and hasn’t gotten the chance to see the latest additions like the new side quests, Island Sanctuary, and even the Duty system. In that case, this is your chance to stay updated on the latest trends for Final Fantasy XIV. Of course, the whole point of the Free Login Campaign is for Square Enix to lure back players into paying for subscriptions again. But if you were planning on getting a subscription again, having an extra 96 hours of free game time is a huge plus.
The Duration of the Free Login Campaign
The Free Login Campaign is currently underway ever since it started on November 18 and will continue to do so until December 16, 2022. Since Final Fantasy XIV is available on PC, PS4, and PS5, you can redeem 96 hours of free game time on one of these platforms.
