Racing video games can make the player a better driver, as they improve their visuomotor controls. These games also offer entertainment value. With that in mind, here are some of the best PS5 racing video games that will unleash the driver inside you.

1) Wreckfest

Published by THQ Nordic and developed by Bugbear Entertainment, Wreckfest is a racing game that includes a range of gameplay. In the game, players control a vehicle in the demolition derby or a race, with the goal being the sole survivor of the demolition derby or winning the banger racing respectively. Before you take part in an event, you need to choose a car, select either automatic or manual transmission, and finally choose whether you want to race on a tarmac or dirt track. You can buy and sell cars, perform research, and customize vehicles. The game features three modes: custom events, multiplayer, and career.

2) Dirt 5

This racing game was developed and published by the British video game studio Codemasters. Dirt 5 focuses on off-road racing, and disciplines within the game include off-road buggies, Stadium Super Trucks ice racing, and rallycross. You’ll get a chance of competing in events in a variety of locations. These include Norway, New York City, Nepal, Italy, Brazil, and more. There is also a 4-players split-screen system in the game. What’s more? The game comes with a narrative-focused career mode that will pit you against a rival driver named Bruno Durand in a series of championships. Alex “AJ” Janiček is your mentor who will provide you with advice throughout your career.

3) Dangerous Driving

Dangerous Driving is a 2019 racing game that was developed by the British company Three Fields Entertainment. In the game, the player must select a vehicle and track and try to beat the opponents in the race, which could be other online players or computer-controlled players. The game includes the same crash elements seen in Burnout. That means you can ram other contestants into the sides of a track. You can also ram them into oncoming damage and cause them to crash. Doing this will temporarily stop them from racing before their vehicle respawns so that they can continue with the race.

4) WRC 9

WRC 9 is the official racing game of the 48th season of the World Rally Championship. The game was developed by the French studio KT Racing and published by Nacon. It includes 14 different locations and features new game modes designed for the community. Clubs system allows you to create your championship and then compete in it online with other players. When the player’s vehicle skids on the tarmac, they can feel it. The player can also feel the anti-lock braking system kicking in when the wheels are struggling for grip.

5) Destruction AllStars

Released on 2 February 2021 for PS5, this vehicular combat video game was developed by Lucid Games. The publisher of Destruction AllStars is Sony Interactive Entertainment. The player takes control of one of the sixteen characters in the game known as AllStars, each having access to a unique hero car. For example, Hana’s vehicle comes with a retractable blade designed to slice the opponent’s car in half. Genesis’ car, on the other hand, has rocket boosters that give it an impressive speed boost.

6) Need for Speed Heat

Set in an open-world setting known as Palm City, Need for Speed Heat was developed by the Swedish game studio Ghost Games. The publisher of this racing video game is Electronic Arts, and it’s the 24th title in the Need for Speed series. The in-game map of NFS Heat features diverse geography, such as open fields and mountainous areas. Unlike the previous game in the series, Need for Speed Heat doesn’t feature a 24-hour day-night cycle; however, you can switch between night and day.

7) Burnout Paradise Remastered

Burnout Paradise is an open-world racing game that was developed by the British studio Criterion Games. The game gives you the chance to progress at your own pace and level. Burnout Paradise Remastered is designed with a rigid gameplay framework. It’s a total reinvention of the Burnout series: For the first time in this game series, records are kept on the driver’s license. This includes statistics like the biggest crash and fastest time for every street.

8) MXGP 2020

MXGP 2020 is a motocross game that was developed and published by the Italian studio Milestone S.r.l. The game features a total of 18 tracks and includes deformable terrain. Some of the tracks in the game are Loket, Sevlievo, Trentino, and Arco. The game runs at 4K resolution and 60 FPS on the PS5 platform. In career mode, the player starts the game at MX2 level; they can either ride for a team or choose to race alone with support from sponsors. If you perform well, you will go up to the MXGP level.

9) Ride 4
