While James Gunn and the DCU search for new actors for their next Batman and Superman productions, gaming fans have been left to wait, yet again, as developers delay the Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League release.
After months of speculation, the much-anticipated adventure shooter game was scheduled for release on 26 May 2023, this has been pushed back with a new release date of 2 February 2024. With all the hype, speculations, and reviews generated over the months and a disastrous state-of-play demonstration back in February 2023, it must have been a contributing factor to getting more work done on the game.
Developed by Rocksteady Studios (Batman: Arkham series), Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League follows the Suicide Squad as they fend off an alien invasion by iconic DC villain Brainiac. Somehow, the alien has brainwashed the Justice League, making them his allies. With life on planet Earth facing annihilation, the team will become the unlikely heroes of this action-packed story.
After 2016’s Suicide Squad movie adaptation, this is the third major iteration of the supervillain team we’ve seen outside the comics so far. However, members of the team have also made appearances in a few games.

Lego DC Super-Villains
As its name indicates, Lego DC Super-Villians focuses on various DC universe villains, including Suicide Squad’s Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, Poison Ivy, and Enchantress. The action-adventure, third perspective game sees the villainous characters reluctantly take on the role of the Earth’s defenders after the Justice League’s disappearance. Together, they will face a rival supervillain group from another universe looking for a powerful item for their master. As the fourth installment in the Lego Batman game series, the gameplay is similar to previous titles, which alternate between several action-adventure sequences and puzzle-solving scenarios.
Batman: Arkham series
Often regarded as one of the best superhero gaming franchises of all time, the Batman Arkham series set the standard for superhero video games. The Suicide Squad first appeared in Batman: Arkham Origin, the third installment of the series. In a post-credits scene, Amanda Waller visits Deathstroke in Blackgate Penitentiary and asks him to join the team in exchange for his freedom. In yet another post-credits scene in Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate, Waller and Rick Flag Jr. recruit Deadshot and Bronze Tiger into the Squad. This may have been a build-up to the long-awaited Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
To conclude
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a long-awaited game by fans of the supervillain team, DC universe enthusiasts, and anyone who enjoys high-stakes adventure games. While gamers will have to wait until February 2 of 2024 to get their hands on the game, they can get their Suicide Squad dose by playing Lego DC Super-Villians, the Batman Arkham series, and the Suicide Squad slot.
