The PlayStation 5 is still a very new console, but it’s got a huge amount of potential. We’re already seeing what developers like Insomniac Games, Bluepoint, and Housemarque can do with the hardware, but there are undoubtedly many unforgettable gaming experiences to come. One thing many PS5 owners will doubtless be wondering is what the best casino games for this platform are. Well, we have some good news and some bad news on that front.
The good news is that there are plenty of games you can check out on your PS5 that offer authentic and realistic casino experiences. The bad news (if you consider it to be so) is that many of these games are actually PS4 games. Further compounding your woes is the fact that the PS5 doesn’t have a web browser. This means if you wanted to go check out some real money poker websites for $0.05 a play and have a good time, you’d need to dig out your PS4. Still, there’s fun to be had on Sony’s new machine. Here are the best casino games on PS5!
Prominence Poker
This is one of the best poker games, not only for the PS5 but in general. Prominence Poker offers an incredibly realistic poker sim, but more importantly, it’s absolutely drenched in atmosphere. You must work your way up from unofficial grimy basement games all the way up to the top, and to do so, you’ll have to be on your poker A-game.
Prominence Poker features a comprehensive single-player campaign, which is rare for casino games, but it also has a robust suite of multiplayer options. If you take on the single-player, you won’t need to worry about your poker face, but it’s a great way to train yourself to take on more skilled opponents in the multiplayer component.
The Four Kings Casino and Slots
If you’re after a more immersive, holistic casino experience, you can find it in The Four Kings Casino and Slots. As the name implies, this game offers up a full simulation of a real casino. You can create your avatar, chat to other players in real time, and earn the chance to deck out your character in lots of different gear.
Of course, there’s also a robust casino sim in here, complete with plenty of favourites to choose from. You can play slots, blackjack, poker, roulette, and even bingo, so no matter what your particular favourite casino game is, you’re bound to find it here. This is a chilled-out, sedate experience that still manages to be thrilling and compelling.
Pure Hold’em
Once again, the name gives this one away. Pure Hold’em is just that: pure hold’em poker. There are no bells, whistles, or adornments here. If you’re after a true one-to-one representation of real-life poker, then you’re not likely to find a better version of it than this. It is, pure and simple, the best poker sim on the PS5.
In Pure Hold’em, you’ll begin at the easiest table, where your opponents aren’t particularly taxing. From there, you’ll work your way up until you’re facing off against true poker masters. There’s also a multiplayer mode so you can take on your friends and finally decide who’s the best poker player among you.
High Roller Casino
Alright, so this one is technically a pinball table rather than an actual casino sim, but it does have some pretty amazing casino-style aesthetics. The visual style here is perfectly reminiscent of Las Vegas, so if you love that glitzy, glamorous town, you’ll get a lot out of this table.
Of course, High Roller Casino also offers a great recreation of pinball, complete with extra casino-style minigames for that additional shot of verisimilitude. There’s even a roulette wheel and a slot machine to check out here, and both are fully functional, so in many ways, this offers a more realistic Vegas experience than other games!
Grand Theft Auto Online
This November, Grand Theft Auto V is getting a PlayStation 5 release with various visual and performance improvements. That will mark the perfect time to get into the online component of the game, which offers exactly the kind of free-roaming multiplayer sandbox experience we all dreamed of as kids.
One of the best elements of that experience is the Diamond Casino and Resort, which, in a similar way to the Four Kings Casino and Slots, offers a full recreation of a casino environment. You can play casino favourites, cash in your chips for GTA currency, and take on the associated heist if you get bored of playing by the rules.
Red Dead Redemption 2
Just like Grand Theft Auto Online, Red Dead Redemption 2 has a surprising amount of realistic casino games to check out. Obviously, they’re realistic for the time period in which the game is set, so don’t expect any modern bells and whistles. Still, you can while away the hours playing poker or blackjack just like a real cowboy would have.
Naturally, since Red Dead Redemption 2 also features an online component, you can head into that and play some gambling games with your friends as well. The single-player games are all fully represented in Red Dead Online, so be sure to start up some impromptu tournaments with your buddies (or strangers if you’re feeling brave!).
Well, there we have it. These are the best casino games you can play on your PS5 right now. We’re sure that as the console moves further into its life cycle, the selection will open up and more great titles will be added. For now, though, the selection is relatively small. What’s your favourite PS5 casino game?
