Ghost of Tsushima turned many heads when it first came out, competing with established IPs like The Last of Us. While its sequel hasn’t generated the same amount of hype, it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that Ghost of Yōtei improves on everything the prequel does, including how charms work in the game.
Every charm offers something unique for players to use when in combat, during exploration, or when using stealth. Knowing which charms are the cream of the crop can help you determine which ones to aim for.
Father’s Charm

Father’s Charm is one of the best defensive charms in the game, as it restores your health when you successfully parry an attack. Parries are important in combat regardless, but this charm rewards the mechanics even more, which can be a significant advantage in harder fights.
This charm is excellent if you like fighting in close-quarters combat. All you have to do is continue to fight and parry enemies to continue getting decent enough sustain. This will ensure that you deal damage and recover health at the same time.
Charm of Mount Yōtei

Charm of Mount Yōtei is another defensive charm that reduces the amount of damage an attack deals to you. This can be the edge players need in dangerous fights, allowing them to survive. The charm becomes even stronger as it’s upgraded, improving survivability.
Since Ghost of Yōtei has a bunch of enemies that can take you down in one shot, it’s a good idea to have some ways to survive. This charm lets you do exactly that. However, you’ll have to upgrade it to see any clear change.
Charm of Futsunushi

Charm of Futsunushi improves your combat by making perfect parries and dodges easier to execute. Ghost of Yotei has substantial combat, and this charm can be the game-changer you need to take down enemies.
Parrying is a huge part of Ghost of Yōtei’s melee combat. It doesn’t matter if you’re fighting hordes of enemies or dueling someone in a 1v1. Being able to parry without much difficulty can be a good idea, especially if you aren’t confident in your timing.
Charm of Last Chance

Charm of Last Chance is the best defense a player can use against powerful enemies or bosses, as it essentially allows revival after death. If you take lethal damage, the charm triggers a health restore using Spirit, giving you another chance to fight.
While Ghost of Yōtei isn’t that hard of a game, having a reliable way to come back to life can be a good crutch to lean on. You can also take more risks and experiment with new weapons and techniques if you want, since you’ll always have a way to come back.
Charm of Enduring Resolve

Charm of Enduring Resolve is the best for players who use their abilities substantially, as it allows a chance to regain Spirit after abilities are used. Spirit abilities are significantly useful but limited, and if you can regain Spirit using this charm, then you may be able to change the direction of a fight.
