Looking for a good narrative adventure to pass the time with on your PS5? We’ve got you covered. Here are ten of the best story-focused PlayStation 5 games to play before you die — happy reading! Spoilers: zombies appear on this list, so beware.
Horizon: Forbidden West

No, this ain’t no forbidden game. While it might not have the same allure as some of its contemporaries, Horizon: Forbidden West is still loads of fun. It’s got a very fun post-apocalyptic story about the end of the world, robots, dinosaurs, and oh, yeah, Alloy! The gameplay is neat, and the bow combat is cool, but it’s mostly about the intriguing narrative for this PS5 game.
Cyberpunk 2077

Yes, there are bugs, and yep, it doesn’t make sense for this title to be in first person, and the combat is pretty weak; but if you can look past all that, Cyberpunk 2077 is pretty awesome. It looks gorgeous on PS5, and the character interactions in this title are better than a lot of other games in this genre. And there are just so many quests. What other video game will have you gripping at your heartstrings because of a vending machine’s genuine kindness? That’s right, none.
Yakuza 0

Brawling its way onto this list, Yakuza 0 is definitely a bit older than the other entries on this list so far, but it’s still loads of fun despite releasing in 2015. If you’re in the mood for a Japanese crime drama brawler game, then we’d say give this one a go. That’s a very specific mood for sure, but it’s not dissimilar to the other games here, as it also has a great narrative. What does that entail? Well, go and watch some Yakuza movies, you stupid drip.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

What? Licensed games can actually be good!? Yeah, who knew? And, yeah, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle really is that good. This game doesn’t compromise on interactivity or great storytelling and is a must-play for PS5 owners. So, grab your whip and your shortround and start your quest to travel the Earth.
Hollow Knight: Silksong

Hear us out on this. Hollow Knight: Silksong relies heavily on its lore to deliver a narrative, but these two games have created entire careers for people online and will continue to do so for years to come. You’ll get an immense amount of storytelling and a great game to boot for less than a Happy Meal.
Stellar Blade

This game is stellar! Not really, actually, but hey, the lore is cool! But we here at PS5Home say that a 7 out of 10 is often better than a 10 out of 10. So, while Stellar Blade might have you reaching for the volume button more often than not on your PS5, its “servicable” story still does the job, and we’d say this is a game you should play before you die, for sure.
God of War: Ragnarok

Okay, now here’s a big one. God of War: Ragnarok has an incredibly gripping narrative, solid voice acting, and an amazing amount of production value. The face capture work in this game is something to behold, and don’t even get us started on the performances; no, seriously. There’s a reason why Christopher Judge won that award. Play this one, buddy, especially if you have kids. That kinda makes it better.
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

How have you not played this already!? We are still waiting for a video game to rival the quality of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. We don’t even have to say anything about this one; play it already. One of the most satisfying endings ever is in this one.
The Last of Us Part II

Naughty Dog is in a league of its own; it has some of the best writers in the entertainment industry. But one of the best things about them is how much they’re willing to push boundaries. Ellie’s plight wasn’t the most popular in the world, but The Last of Us Part II is one of the bravest and most uncompromising video games ever to exist.
Red Dead Redemption II

Speaking of blights, Arthur Morgan sure had one here. If you’re looking for a game to get lost in, then Red Dead Redemption II is the one for you. It has a long list of problems, but if you can look past all the mistakes, this is one of the greatest stories ever told in the video game medium. What a special game this is.
Well, we hope you like reading, because you’re going to be doing a lot more of it with all these games! Thanks for checking out this article.
