Intro
f you’ve yet to play Call of Duty: Warzone, you should definitely give it a try. It’s Activision’s take on the battle royale genre, and it has some very neat twists up its sleeve. The Gulag system allows players who’ve died to have another chance at getting back into the action, and there are a number of other unique systems and mechanics influenced by games from Fortnite all the way through to Escape from Tarkov. Getting started can be tough, though, so we’ve put together a guide on how to get started in this excellent first-person shooter.
Just dive in
The best way to get started in Call of Duty: Warzone is to just dive into the game. It’s free-to-play, so once you’ve downloaded it, you can just fire it up and hop into the action, and it’s best to do so if you want to learn the game. There’s no better way to learn than by doing, and playing with bots will only teach you so much. You might not do too well on your first few games, but that’s par for the course when you’re learning something new.
Level up quick
If you want to enjoy Warzone to the fullest, you’ll probably want to unlock as many cosmetics and weapon skins as you can. To that end, you should try to level up as quickly as possible. One way to do that is simply by playing the game; just play as many games as possible and you’ll level up as a matter of course. You could also seek out a Call of Duty: Warzone booster service to help you gain some levels quickly.
Learn the map
Since its launch in 2020, after which it was one of the most downloaded games of that year, Call of Duty: Warzone has undergone a lot of changes. As such, we can’t really give you any concrete tips for its map, as it might have changed by the time you read this! Use practice mode and bot games to learn the map inside out. You can’t predict spawn locations, of course, but if you know the geography, you’ll have a significant advantage over those who don’t.
Grab a squad
Warzone is perfectly playable without friends, but it becomes a much less satisfying experience if you attempt to tackle it solo. Grab a squad and suddenly Warzone opens up, becoming much more compelling and rewarding. Ask some of your friends if they’d like to play, or ask if there’s a spot on a squad that’s already playing. Either way, it’s much better to enter Warzone when you have a dedicated multiplayer setup.
Aim for your loadout drop
While you can survive for a while in Warzone just by looting gear around you, the best way to get ahead in the game is to go for your specific loadout drop. You can get this once you’ve amassed $10,000, and it will give you the perks and equipment you want so that you can build your own custom class. Warzone isn’t much fun if you can’t play the way you want to, so getting your loadout kit is essential.
Play the way you like
If sniping doesn’t appeal to you, then you don’t need to do it. Don’t fall for “the meta”; many will tell you that there is a definitively effective way to win games in Warzone, but that assumes a lot, including parity of player skill and a professional approach. You’re better off trying to win Warzone games by simply approaching the game the way you would like to play it.
