It was a surreal time when it was revealed that Gears of War: Reloaded was coming to PS5. Something that I was not expecting to see happen for a long time, but I immediately welcomed it. The news was showing a change in the times for gaming, where exclusives were becoming more interchangeable. In that same instance, games like Helldivers 2 (a previously PlayStation exclusive) were heading to Xbox. More recently, we even got to see Master Chief appear on PS5! It gave players a chance to experience a staple in gaming without needing to buy a whole other console. So, with the reveal of Gears of War: E-Day, many players were hoping to see if it’s coming to PS5. While no PlayStation logos were shown in the trailers, sometimes they are omitted in specific showcases. However, we now know for sure if the latest Gears of War is coming.
Is Gears of War: E-Day Coming to PS5?
No, the latest Gears of War won’t be released on PS5. Instead, the game is a PC and Xbox exclusive, with no plans to make the jump onto PlayStation. After its reveal, it was noticeable that none of the trailers detailed a PS5 launch. But with so many other Xbox titles being multiplatform, it seemed like this was going to be following the same trend. However, it seems like if you want to experience a new entry in the series, you’re going to need to venture over to a PC or Xbox.
If you aren’t aware of the story for E-Day, players embark on a prequel to the Gears of War story. Stepping into the role of a younger Marcus Fenix, players combat the Locust on the day they emerge to terrorize the planet of Sera. Along with Dom and some familiar faces, players take part in the infamous event that became known as Emergence Day.

PS5 And Xbox Exclusives Make A Return
The reveal that Gears of War: E-Day is not coming to PS5 is something that’s both disappointing and not shocking. Both PlayStation and Xbox are going back on the track of making their notable games exclusives. Just before this announcement, PlayStation had revealed that Marvel’s Wolverine is not only absent from Xbox, but also from PC as well. It’s slowly going to show that both Microsoft and PlayStation are going back to the era of exclusives.
However, only some seem to be going down that route so far. Therefore, it’s safe to say that many of the titles from both are going to be decided on a case-by-case basis. With the possibility that PlayStation is looking to mainly keep their single-player adventures to just consoles. It’s still a shame, though, as Gears of War: E-Day is shaping up to be a stellar third-person shooter. Plus, the multiplayer mode is making a return, bringing back some iconic competitive gameplay.
Ultimately, there was the shock when it was revealed that hidden trailers for E-Day actually sported the PS5 logo. Because of this, the game not being on PlayStation seems to be a last-minute decision. It’s unknown whether this could change in the future or not. However, for right now, it seems like Microsoft has decided that the game won’t arrive on PS5.
