There have always been a select few video games across every generation of consoles that have soared in popularity and price as the years go by. Despite the PlayStation 5 not being even a decade old, there are still games available for it that have gone up in price unimaginably. The rarest PS5 games of all time are listed down below, with the prices all taken from PriceCharting.com. I’ve also made sure not to include consoles and have only added games and collector’s editions to this list.
10. Alan Wake 2 Collector’s Edition ($312)
I personally am jealous of everyone in the world who has the collector’s edition of Alan Wake 2. Released a decade after the release of the previous game, this one picks up on the story with an all-new protagonist whose story you follow along with Alan’s. This collector’s edition wasn’t sanctioned by Remedy Entertainment, but rather by popular physical media distributor Limited Run Games. It came with an embossed slipcover, a keychain of the Oceanview Hotel from the game, a light-up Angel Lamp, an enamel pin set, and a hardcover art book alongside a deluxe edition of the game. If you try to pick it up online from a vendor, then you can pretty much expect to pay more than $300 for it in a box.
9. Disco Elysium: The Final Cut Collector’s Edition ($323)
Similar to Alan Wake 2, the Disco Elysium: The Final Cut collector’s edition wasn’t released at the same time as the game. It was distributed separately by a company called iam8but, and included a premium box, a hand-painted Mind Toten vinyl sculpture, a hardcover art book, an illustrated fabric map, and a physical edition of Disco Elysium. When it was first available to order, it went for $249, so it’s definitely gone up in value since it was released. This same company is also responsible for various vinyl prints of popular video game soundtracks, helping keep physical media alive.
8. Trails in The Sky 1st Chapter Bracer Edition ($394)
The Trails franchise isn’t just your run-of-the-mill Japanese RPG; it’s a cultural cornerstone of storytelling, narrative, and character development. So, when the collector’s edition of Trails in the Sky 1st was revealed by Limited Run Games, it was no surprise that it quickly sold out, becoming a rare and expensive piece in anyone’s collection. The collector’s edition comes with various items, including a special edition box, some additional DLC, a wooden music box, a steelbook, the Bracer Guild notebook, an art book, the soundtrack, a cloth map of Liberl, in-game costumes, and a foil embossed slipcover.
7. Digimon Story Time Stranger Collector’s Edition ($440)
This entry in the list is interesting because Digimon Story Time Stranger just came out at the end of 2025. It continues the legacy of the Story games within the Digimon franchise, and the collector’s edition is perfect for fans of both the video game and the physical card game. However, unlike most of the other entries on this list, this edition doesn’t come with a whole lot. For almost $450 now, you can get a Jupitermon Wrath mode figure, an artbook, the base game, and four exclusive Digimon cards. The statue is pretty cool, but I still think the entire collection is a little bit overpriced.
6. Cult of the Lamb True Believer Edition ($576)
I didn’t know that there was a collector’s edition for Cult of the Lamb, but here we are! The physical collector’s edition comes with a bunch of cool stuff for cult leaders, including reversible jacket artwork, a hardcover edition signed by the devs, a special art card, the soundtrack, a cool box, and a plush of the Lamb. It will cost you a cool $576, though it is definitely worth it to have the signed game proudly displayed on your shelf. If you don’t mind it being opened, you can also snag the collector’s edition loose for $500 instead, which is still a cool chunk of change.
5. Baldur’s Gate 3 Collector’s Edition ($589)
The Baldur’s Gate 3 collector’s edition is another one that I wish I had. Although I only recently got into the game, the collector’s edition might actually be worth getting at nearly $600. It comes with some sweet collectibles, including an artbook, a digital game code, additional digital content, a game certificate, a bunch of rad stickers, a special box, Magic: The Gathering Battle for Baldur’s Gate booster packs, a tadpole keyring, a clothe map, character sheets of the origin characters, an oversized metal D20, and, lastly, a Mindflayer versus Drow battle diorama. Just the above image makes me wish I had the cash to pick one up from someone on eBay.
4. A Plague Tale: Requiem Collector’s Edition ($687)
I’m not really sure why I didn’t expect to have to put A Plague Tale: Requiem on this list, but it’s here! The collector’s edition is actually pretty awesome, especially if you are into collecting statues and physical music. This collector’s edition comes with a 45RPM vinyl with the soundtrack, three lithographs, a cool, store-exclusive box cover, a special edition box, Hugo’s feather brooch, and a resin statue of Amicia and Hugo.
3. Black Myth: Wukong Collector’s Edition (1,000)
Black Myth: Wukong was one of my personal game of the year selections for 2024. It was such a powerful game that game incredible visuals and stellar gameplay, all while bringing soulslikes back to the center. The collector’s edition of the game is also pretty sick, and includes a thunderstone ring, a wind chime replica, a gold sun crow pin, stamps and postcards, a warranty certificate, a Teaching of the Heart Sutra poster, a steel case, a special box to put it all in, and a statue of Sun Wukong. The statue alone might be worth the hefty price tag, especially considering just how incredible it really looks.
2. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Collector’s Edition ($1,191)
The Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 collector’s edition was exclusive to GameStop, and, honestly, I don’t think it’s worth the hype. Sure, the game was the most talked-about game of 2025, but I feel that the collector’s edition doesn’t really reflect that. It comes with a physical copy of the game, digital content including six outfits and hairstyles inspired by the Flowers of Lumiere, six Gommage outfit variations, two Clair Obscur outfits, a steel book case, the Expeditioner’s Journal, and a state of the monolith as a resin music box. If you really want it, it will cost you more than $1000.
1. Elden Ring Premium Collector’s Edition ($1247)
Lastly, we have the most expensive PS5 game of all time: the Elden Ring premium collector’s edition. Elden Ring was also the most talked-about game of the year it was released, and its collector’s edition is perfect for soulslike fans. It comes with an official helmet replica, a digital soundtrack, an exclusive steelbook, a hard-cover artbook, and a soundtrack of Malenia – Blade of Miquella. According to Price Charting, this is the most expensive game you can find for the PlayStation 5, and it doesn’t get much cheaper if you try and find the whole set loose.
