Cozy games and even restoration games are becoming more popular. Sure, there are simulator games that you can enjoy on the PS5 already. However, it’s nice to be able to boot up a game to play after a hard week, and it can put your mind at ease. There are some great cozy titles, but they tend to release on PC with an eventual launch on PS5. Recently, ReStory has been one of those games that is all about getting cozy and restoring different devices. The problem, though, is it’s currently only available to play through Steam. And until we hear of a PS5 release date, it’s not on consoles. However, we have some great alternate picks for cozy games similar to ReStory that you can play on PS5. House Flipper 1 & 2
House Flipper 1 & 2 are solid options if you want to relax and restore things in a game. More specifically, you can flip different rooms and houses for money. The games are as cozy as they come, and you can burn through hours just working on one house project. In the beginning, players have to focus on specific rooms to fix, restore, or even change. But it’s not long before you move on to bigger projects to make even more money. Plus, with all the money you earn, you can spend it on a house of your own to make a home. Both games also have plenty of DLC content packs to enjoy.
PowerWash Simulator 1 & 2
PowerWash Simulator 1 & 2 are both good examples of cozy restoration. While it’s not about tech or game consoles, instead you clean different environments. Starting with items completely covered in grime, you’ll soap and wash till all of the jobs are done. The game is incredibly relaxing, and time flies as you work to clean up things like exteriors of houses or even full billboards. The best is that you have friends you want to kick back with; co-op is supported so that you can clean together. There is no music, just the calm audio of a power washer doing what it does best. Sometimes a simple concept such as this is one of the best ways to wind down during the week.
Stardew Valley
While not a restoration game like ReStory, this list wouldn’t be complete without Stardew Valley. Similar to Harvest Moon, players take ownership of a family farm to escape the hectic life of the city. Starting small, you can grow your farm as time goes on, mine, fish, and even start a family. Some things that make Stardew Valley so cozy are dedicating the time to building out your crops as you wish or basking in nature while you fish. The game itself is all about taking things one day at a time and enjoying life for what it is. At first, it can seem intense with what you need to do. However, by taking it slow, the game shows you that it’s all about relaxing and enjoying all it has to offer.
Trash Goblin
Trash Goblin functions very similarly to ReStory. Players find various items to restore and sell. These range from small trinkets to even bigger and rarer items. But you have to take the time and care to restore them to their former glory. As a bonus, the game takes place in a fantasy setting, where you come across various unique characters to sell to. Some of these items can either make you plenty of money for your work, or just some small change. But the important thing is, Trash Goblin does the job of being cozy and relaxing for players.
Unpacking
If you are looking for a relaxing game where you unpack different rooms through your life, Unpacking is a great selection. The game functions as a puzzle, trying to figure out just how to get everything placed right. However, it’s incredibly relaxing in this regard, trust me. I have many hours in Unpacking, and its calm music and sounds have your brain focused on making the rooms just right. Each of the rooms and levels feels like an escape. Not only that, but they tell a story about life and how things change throughout it, all while you unpack these different locations. Unpacking is simple in its nature but great to wind down with as a break from the more hectic games.
