Why Saying “There’s No Games on PS5” is Ridiculous

Numbers Wise Alone, “There’s No Games On PS5” Doesn’t Add UpVarious High-Rated & Decorated Titles are PS5 ExclusiveThe Future Looks Bright for PS5

Let me just start by saying that the “there’s no games on PS5” statement is ridiculous. The PS5 is a powerhouse console. Its SSD provides near lightning-fast loading times. Titles on the console can run at 60 fps, 1080p, or even 4k in some cases. Since its launch in 2020, various titles have been released for the system.

Many of the games are standout experiences that players need to try. Various genres are spread across the PS5 games, and some of the titles may even encourage players to try new ones. Although not all the titles released on the PS5 will appeal to everyone, there are plenty of games on the system. I’m here to show you why downplaying the PS5’s roster of games is not true.

Numbers Wise Alone, “There’s No Games On PS5” Doesn’t Add Up

Since its release in 2020, the PS5 has had over 20 exclusives. While this may not sound like a lot, with Covid hindering game development, this number is impressive. Furthermore, that amount is just from PS5 exclusives, and with more on the way, that will only continue to rise. Additionally, this does not count indie titles or other exclusive third-party games. The PS5 has plenty of exclusive games for players to enjoy, and they span various genres, something for everyone. The genres range from action titles such as Stellar Blade, co-op with Helldivers 2, to platformers like Astro’s Playroom. Games like Helldivers 2, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Stellar Blade are all titles that have been developed and released exclusively for the PS5.

Additionally, many PS4 titles have been receiving PS5 upgrades, such as Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us Part 1, and many more. Every time a title receives an upgraded PS5 version, it’s another addition to the catalog for players to enjoy. Even without the PS4 to PS5 titles, the PS5 exclusives are numerous and provide players with countless hours of entertainment. As technology advances with gaming, the development of titles is taking longer. The ultimate goal is for studios to achieve a perfectly crafted game in performance, story, gameplay, and so much more. However, the titles that players can currently experience on the PS5 more than makeup for the amount in its roster. Players curious to know about the current PS5 roster can find it below:

  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
  • Rise of the Ronin
  • God of War Ragnarök
  • Horizon Forbidden West
  • Gran Turismo 7
  • Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
  • Returnal
  • Helldivers 2
  • Astro’s Playroom
  • Demon’s Souls
  • Stellar Blade
  • Final Fantasy 16

Those are just some of the titles available for the PS5. Saying that there are no games on the console feels like rubbish when you see the various titles available to play. Furthermore, when it comes to how well some of them are rated, it further cements the great PS5 legacy so far.

Various High-Rated & Decorated Titles are PS5 Exclusive

Many PS5 exclusives stand out in sheer quality, more so, enough to receive awards for it. Whether it’s a high review rating or a Game of the Year nomination, PS5 games have reached this threshold. Various PS5 games have incredible scores; furthermore, it’s more common for them to score well than otherwise. While awards aren’t everything, PS5 titles are among those that always make appearances or win at events like The Game Awards. While a game’s quality is subjective, some of the titles that have been the most successful for the PS5 have been seen as excellent. Additionally, many games are seen this way across the gaming community. Below are just some of the PS5 exclusives Metacritic scores and how they did at The Game Awards:

  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 – 90/100, Game of the Year Nominee 2023
  • God of War: Ragnarök – 94/100, Best Narrative/Score & Music/Audio Design Winner 2022
  • Returnal – 86/100, Best Action Game Winner 2021
  • Final Fantasy 16 – 87/100, Best Score and Music Winner 2023

Awards don’t mean everything. However, these are just examples of PS5 titles receiving incredible recognition. When it comes to the PS5, saying there are no games but many of them are both well-received and receiving nominations and wins says a lot. Even just by averaging the scores from those above, the average rating of PS5 exclusives sits at 89%. The console doesn’t just have games, it has blockbuster titles.

The Future Looks Bright for PS5

Upcoming games for the PS5 look to be just as great as their predecessors. Players are going to be able to enjoy platforming fun like ASTRO BOT or traverse a destroyed world in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. From what we have seen of some of the upcoming titles, PS5 exclusives look to continue going just as strong as the present.

Games don’t need to be constantly released for the PS5 for it to “have games.” By doing this, there is a good chance for the titles to come out mediocre or worse. The PlayStation 5 generation may not be the strongest compared to both the PS3 and PS4, but it has fantastic titles. In fact, it has been a slew of nonstop hits for the PS5. Development may be long, but it is clear evidence that with time and care, true art is produced. Whether it’s traversing the multiverse as Ratchet & Clank to saving New York City as the Spider-Men, the PS5 doesn’t just have games; it has true games for players to experience and remember. The next time you hear the phrase that there are no games for the PS5, remember everything we have for it so far and what’s to come.
