The DualSense controller on PS5 is an excellent piece of tech. It has a nice heft, looks pretty, and feels fantastic. Plus, it even has a button in its touchpad’s left-hand corner for exclusively sharing short clips or screenshots of your favourite gaming moment. So, what does this cool little button do, exactly?
What Does the Create Button Do On PS5?
The Create Button improves on the DualShock’s Share button from the PS4 days by enhancing and streamlining the content-sharing process with a new, more intuitive menu. By pressing this button, you can take screenshots of whatever game you’re playing, capture up to one hour of gameplay footage, make some basic edits, go live right from the console itself, and post online.

How to Create On PS5?
To do this, hit the button on your PS5’s DualSense controller to bring up a menu to decide whether to take a screenshot or record footage up to a 4K resolution. If you don’t have a 4K-compatible TV, you can navigate to Settings, then Captures and Broadcasts, followed by Video Clip Format and select 1080p as your desired resolution. The PS5 always records the last hour of footage in case you decide to use it, so when you do, head to the Media Gallery, which is where screenshots are kept. It’s also worth noting that 4K videos will be saved as a WebP format, which isn’t widely supported, so do keep that in mind.
Starting a live broadcast can be done by using the Create menu on PS5 to share your live experience on Twitch or YouTube. You can also set up a party with your friends, which can be activated by pressing the PS button on your DualSense controller, selecting Game Base in the Control Centre menu, navigating to the Parties tab, and selecting Start Party. You can decide whether you want an open or closed party. The closed party setting requires you to invite specific players.

A basic photo editing menu also allows you to overlay text, crop the image, add overlays, zoom in and out of them, and add borders. Once you’re finished making changes, save it to your media gallery in case you want to use it later. Oh, and don’t worry about spoiling your friends, because the PS5 makes sure to add a filter to all your in-game photos so you’re friends’ surprise won’t be ruined if you’ve made it farther than them.
So, those are all the things you can do with the Create Button. Hopefully, it has made you more eager to share your best clips with all your buds, or maybe it just made you that much more comfortable with your brand-new PlayStation 5. Whatever the case, have fun gaming.
