Marvel has already revealed several characters that will be in Marvel’s Wolverine, including Jean Grey, Sabertooth, Mystique, and others. However, it’s unclear whether the game will feature other characters in cameos or to build up the game’s narrative. Here are six characters that Marvel’s Wolverine should have and why.
Silver Samurai
Silver Samurai is an easy pick for a character that would fit well into Marvel’s Wolverine. Both characters have a history, and Silver Samurai’s swordsmanship would be an interesting combat, as Wolverine would be using his claws against the enemy. Wolverine fighting mutants or powered enemies is common, but Silver Samurai is different because he uses technology to increase his strength to fight Logan and counterattack. There is also a stronger narrative, as Logan is closely associated with the Yashida Clan and Mariko, both of which could have a cameo or flashback.
Marvel’s Wolverine is set in Japan, so Silver Samurai seems to be a particularly good fit for a boss in the game. Logan will travel to multiple locations in the game, so Silver Samurai can be in just the Japan part, and defeating him can allow Wolverine to progress. The two characters’ melee fights can be outstanding, and not having Silver Samurai be the boss Wolverine fights in Japan would feel like a missed opportunity to fans.
Deadpool

Deadpool and Logan have a substantial history together, and the duo was even seen together in a recent Marvel movie. Marvel’s Wolverine featuring Deadpool could be considered fan service or could add a comedic element to the game, as the two characters have that kind of relationship. They have fought together, and Deadpool is unpredictable, while Logan uses brute force, which can make the gameplay more balanced.
Marvel has confirmed that Wolverine will be the only playable character in the game, so Deadpool doesn’t need to be a permanent character. Wade Wilson could instead appear as a temporary ally who supports Wolverine during a boss fight or randomly shows up to provide comedic relief. Deadpool’s healing factor is crucial, as it allows the two to take on tough enemies together, without fear of either dying. The game could also utilize the healing abilities to have the two fight each other.
Kitty Pryde

Logan and Kitty Pryde aren’t just coworkers working with the X-Men; Wolverine instead has a mentor-type relationship with the young mutant. This makes Kitty appearing in the game a good element, as the two already have an established relationship, and her phasing abilities could help Logan. She could help Wolverine enter otherwise inaccessible areas rather than fighting alongside the clawed mutant.
Kitty Pryde’s appearance in the game should help the narrative, rather than making the character a part of the fights. The mutant could also observe Logan and learn how he is approaching combat and other gameplay elements. This adds an emotional element to the game where Logan is seen as a teacher, rather than just providing a support character for Wolverine.
Daken
Daken is Wolverine’s biological son, and the two have a substantially violent relationship. Wolverine’s son blames his father for his mother’s death before learning the truth. Marvel’s Wolverine can feature Daken as a negative character who works with Logan’s enemies. This will provide a deeply personal enmity, and the fight against Daken will be more emotional.
Wolverine could reflect on his parenting during or after the fight, facing his failure as a father. Daken also has claws, so Wolverine’s fight against his son would be unique. Despite the two having similar melee attacks, they fight significantly differently. Daken could appear multiple times, and his arc could end with the father and son reconciling.
Gambit

Gambit may prove to be a strong contender for Marvel’s Wolverine’s Team Up gameplay mechanics, as his combat style is one of the most unique among Logan’s usual partners. The stronger element may be narrative-focused, as Wolverine and Gambit initially teamed up reluctantly. Wolverine initially didn’t trust Gambit, but the two eventually fostered a decent partnership.
Gambit’s combat is also significantly different from Wolverine’s, as he uses ranged attacks compared to Logan’s melee claws. The character should probably appear as a temporary assist or enemy, as a means to introduce him. Marvel could then develop him into a grey character or Wolverine’s partner if there is a sequel to the game.
Doom

Doom isn’t a character that Marvel should add because of his relationship with Logan, as the two don’t have much history. However, Doom is confirmed to be the villain in Avengers: Doomsday. This can make him an interesting character to feature in Marvel’s Wolverine.
Marvel doesn’t need to make him an enemy, boss, or even a permanent character. Doom could instead appear at the end of the game, warning Wolverine that his journey hasn’t ended and a bigger fight is about to come. This could potentially tease a Marvel’s Wolverine sequel, while capitalizing on RDJ, Doom, and the MCU’s popularity.
