Four years on, we can say with the utmost confidence that the PS5 ushered a new era of gaming, and a part of this forward leap is the innovative DualSense controller. Of course, you need to be able to connect it up first. If you’ve just purchased your console or got a new controller, find out how to connect your PS5 controller in seconds.
How to Connect Your PS5 Controller
To connect your first PS5 controller, you’ll need the USB cable that came with your console.
- Plug one end of the USB cable into the controller and the other end into one of the USB ports on your PS5.
- Now you need to press the PS button. It is located in the center of the controller, press and hold the PS button to turn it on.
- Your controller will now go through an initial setup process, which may include creating a user profile or signing in to PlayStation Network.
Once complete, your controller is ready to be used wirelessly.
How to Connect Additional Controllers to PS5
You can connect up to four PS5 controllers to your console. Here’s how to add more:
- Connect a controller with a USB cable: To pair an additional controller, first connect it to your PS5 using a USB cable as you did with the first controller. This is the easiest way and most reliable. Do this for all additional PS5 controllers you want to connect.
- Connect additional PS5 controllers via Bluetooth: First, you need to make sure that your controller is turned off. If it’s on, press and hold the PS button until it turns off. On your already connected controller, go to Settings > Accessories > General > Bluetooth Accessories. On the controller, you want to pair, simultaneously press and hold the PS button and the Create button. The light bar will start flashing. On your PS5, choose the controller from the list of found devices. Repeat this for all additional controllers you want to connect to your PS5.
