Players wanting to enjoy Far Cry 3 in its remastered glory are in luck. The iconic title from Ubisoft is joining the many other titles on PS5 with a 60 FPS update. Many of us on the console are still seeing a new side of gaming with this fresh frame rate. To the point that games that no longer have it feel like something too far in the past. With some even getting to run at 120 FPS. And as the weeks go by, more and more titles are getting the treatment. With Far Cry 3 getting it, it’s nice to see some classics catching up to modern times. But it’s not the only one, as Ubisoft has detailed two other titles that are going to look just as clean.
Far Cry 3 and Two Others Are Getting 60 FPS Upgrades
Along with Far Cry 3, Ubisoft revealed that both Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon and Far Cry Primal are getting upgrades as well. Not just that, but they are arriving on consoles on January 21, 2026. While not a new version upgrade (like a dedicated PS5 version), they will be buffed up. So no longer will players have to experience these titles at a slow frame rate. However, it seems like the graphics are not likely to change. With Ubisoft opting for a smoother gameplay experience or visual transformation.
Fortunately, though, players don’t need to pay any extra for these upgrades. More specifically, if they own the games. As they will be free updates that are automatically applied when they launch. To be sure, make sure to highlight the game in your PS5 menu and hit Select. Then click on the “Check for Updates” option. Also, if you are a PS Plus subscriber with at least the PS Plus Extra tier, you’re in luck. As all three titles are in the Game Catalog, if you haven’t played them, this is the perfect time to dive in.
This seems to be a trend in a long line of Ubisoft titles getting the deserved treatment. Just last week, players got to relive the excitement of the first entry in The Division series with a 60 FPS upgrade. Experiencing it first-hand, it only makes me want to go through the game again. And with still so many other titles in the 30 FPS depths, it might just be a matter of time before they get it too. I’m looking at you, Ghost Recon Wildlands. If you are new to smooth frame rate, this hype may seem odd. But enhanced frames make the gameplay much better than it used to be. Furthermore, it’s easier on the eyes as you play, rather than the clunkier days of the past.
