In 2023, Bethesda shocked the world by releasing the first game in their newest IP, Starfield. Players with faced wit the grandness of space and the depths of the planets that inhabit it. If you thought that games like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 76 were huge, you haven’t given Starfield a chance. Since the game was released shortly after Xbox acquired Bethesda, the game was released exclusively on the Xbox family of consoles and PC via Game Pass.
Can You Play Starfield on PS5?
Unfortunately, Starfield is not playable on PS5, and there are no plans to bring the game to the PlayStation. As part of Microsoft’s goal to have a leg up against its biggest competitor, it was decided that Starfield would be exclusive to the former. Whether that will change with future installments in the series has remained to be seen. Hopefully, it’s something that can genuinely come to fruition.
Games Like Starfield on PS5
Despite not being able to play the critically acclaimed space adventure on PS5, there are a few other games you could enjoy instead. These include:
- No Man’s Sky – While definitely a beast in its own right, No Man’s Sky is one of the first games to pioneer space travel to the extent that we have come to expect it in modern gaming. You’ll be able to travel between worlds, meet aliens, build a base, and even have your own starship.
- The Outer Worlds – The Outer Worlds is rather silly, and doesn’t take itself seriously. However, fans of games like the Mass Effect series will love the idea of collecting companions all to work together towards a common goal. Although silly, it’s well-written and a blast to play through.
- Elite Dangerous – Elite Dangerous is incredibly different from the games above. Instead of playing through space at your own pace, you’re in the cockpit of a ship, fighting against others and taking control in battle.
