Something is blowing in the wind; oh, never mind. It’s only the free-to-play action role-playing game Wuthering Waves. Not to downplay it, though, because this title has over a hundred hours of gameplay if you’re going for completion and some engaging combat. But what if you want to play it on your PS5?
After being ported over on January 2, 2025, along with a new 2.0 update, PlayStation fans can rejoice because Wuthering Waves is, indeed, available on the system. The game takes inspiration from another post-apocalyptic open-world title, Death Stranding, with Waves’ developers wanting to create a world where players can feel the fusing of new and old civilizations. With its thirty million pre-registered users at launch, it’s safe to say that the direction worked out for the team at Kuro Games. Or, maybe, some people just wanted a fun anime-style gacha game to sink their teeth into? Who knows. We’re not here to judge.
That new 2.0 update also introduces a wealth of new changes, including several new areas, five new bosses, and the ability to customize your character with skins and costumes for the first time ever. Players can also now cut down on the clutter with the addition of simplified UI mode, and there are many new gameplay changes as well. Currently, Wuthering Waves is locked at 60 frames per second of both iterations of the system, but with the PS5 Pro being out on the market for quite a while now, there is still a chance of an enhanced version at some point in the future.
If you’re curious about the combat, it revolves around regular attacks that you use to fill up the Forte circuit, which then dishes out a skill or heavy attack to deal massive damage to your enemy. As for the story, Wuthering Waves is set in the futuristic, post-apocalyptic world of Solaris-3 after a catastrophe called the Lament decimated most of humanity and caused some monsters to appear.
This title also supports remote play, so if you need more of it in your life, then there you go.
Hopefully, this piece has allowed you to rest easy knowing your new favourite game is now available on the latest PlayStation console. Wuthering Waves is a really cool release, so we hope you’ve seen why that is while learning some cool facts about it. See? Learning can be fun. As long as it’s to do with eighteen hours or more long open-world games that feature real-time combat, of course.
