Every factor of a video game is important, from how it looks to how it plays. Some would argue that the successful games also appeal to the sense of hearing. From awesome sound design to an excellent soundtrack that makes the game extremely memorable, some of the best games on the PS5 also have iconic soundtracks.

From The Last of Us 2 mesmerizing players with the acoustic music created by Gustavo Santaolalla, to Astro’s Playroom making many players want to jump around and dance with the rhythm, these are the top 10 PS5 games with the best soundtrack.

Baldur’s Gate 3

Baldur’s Gate 3 is heralded as one of the best fantasy RPGs around, and for good reason. Nothing beats going into a new town or tavern with your party in tow, listening to the bard sing a song about dragons and demons. Of course, things are even better with a friend.

Not only is the fantasy tone there in spades, but Baldur’s Gate 3 also perfectly captures the quieter moments. Whether you’re resting at your camp or just travelling down the long and treacherous road, you can rest assured knowing that you’ll have some fitting music to accompany you every step of the way.

Lies of P

Lies of P may have been a surprising hit from Neowiz, but it captured the hearts of many. Those who have played the game will likely remember the first time they played the song Feel. That too on the gramophone in Hotel Krat. Hearing the singer’s voice slowly breaking because of the dated music device, but still conveying such raw emotion, is something magical and unforgettable.

What’s more is that Feel is just one of many songs available to play in Lies of P. Players complete side missions and other objectives to acquire records that they can play. Every individual record holds a memory and is related to the objective they had to complete or NPC they had to interact with. Lies of P’s soundtrack perfectly captures the dark and depressing vibe of the game, ensuring that feelings like hope and love live on.

Cuphead

Cuphead’s hand-drawn art style and surprising difficulty may be why the game was popularized. But its soundtrack is nothing to scoff at. The game’s soundtrack perfectly captures the cartoony and jazz-like feeling of the game, taking players back to the days when classic cartoons used to dominate every household television.

From barbershop quartets to honky-tonk ragtime and big-band jazz, the appeal of the Cuphead soundtrack is that it’s more than just another video game soundtrack. Instead, it’s something that anyone can listen to whenever and still have a blast. Of course, things are taken to the next level when you’re fighting a particularly tough boss with a Cuphead banger playing in the background.

God of War Ragnarok

Kratos and Atreus have become household Sony names, as both of their Norse-centered games have become smash hits. What takes both games to the next level is the loud and proud soundtrack that captures the essence and strength of its Nordic setting, ensuring players feel the weight of every step they take.

In particular, God of War Ragnarok holds an excellent soundtrack that resonates with players. As Kratos and Atreus find themselves in new lands and facing dangerous foes, players can know that they’ll get an awesome backtrack every time. The soundtrack is especially prominent in serious moments, where it helps players digest key story moments.

Hades 2

The first Hades was an absolute success, winning multiple awards and giving some AAA top dogs a run for their money. Hades 2 brings much of that same charm, while also taking the soundtrack to a new level. It may be the addictive music that plays every time Melinoe starts a new run. Maybe it’s a boss theme that gets the adrenaline pumping. Hades 2’s soundtrack is as memorable as can be.

If you don’t believe us, then you just have to fight the Sirens in Oceanus. Listening to Scylla and her bandmates conjuring up some of the best songs from any video games is something that will likely catch every player by surprise at least once.

Persona 3 Reload

The Persona series is known for its attractive soundtrack, and Persona 3 Reload is no different. Bringing back the soundtrack from the original Persona 3, which was released all the way back in 2006, Persona 3 Reload gives players a taste of why so many players worldwide love the series.

The game could have a chill song play when you’re roaming the overworld. Maybe it plays a particularly heartfelt track when the story takes a sad or unexpected turn. Persona 3 Reload’s soundtrack is pivotal to experiencing the game the right way. Just don’t be surprised if you keep saying “Baby” after listening to it.

The Last of Us Part 2

Naughty Dog did something amazing when it crafted a post-apocalyptic world that really felt alive. The first The Last of Us was amazing, and Part 2 built on what made the first game so great. Regardless of the controversies surrounding the game’s story, it can’t be argued that the game’s soundtrack is perfect.

Gustavo Santoalalla’s approach to putting emotive soundscapes in key story moments is perfect. The tracks perfectly convey what they want, whether it’s the isolating feeling of loneliness or the heart-pounding desire for revenge. Many players have stated they had to put their controller down to enjoy the music multiple times. Of course, we completely understand why.

Astro’s Playroom

Astro’s Playroom’s soundtrack is as enjoyable as the game is. The platformer surprised many when it became a smash hit and won the Game of the Year award in 2024. However, much of this is owed to the game’s infectiously addictive soundtrack.

Playing with nostalgia and fun, Astro Playroom’s soundtrack perfectly captures what it feels like to be a kid. The soundtrack is filled with cheer and is extremely memorable. You may have to stand up and dance when playing this game.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was one of the most anticipated games since the 2020 remake raised the bar. The good news is that the sequel didn’t disappoint. Having a huge soundtrack with over 175 tracks, Square Enix ensures that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has a track for every situation.

You may be in the fight of a lifetime or watching a gut-wrenching cutscene. You’ll already know the background music will be amplifying every experience. It’s no surprise that this game’s soundtrack won so many awards when it came out in 2024. It’s also unsurprising that Aerith and Tifa’s themes are fan-favorites.

NieR: Automata

Regardless of what someone thinks about the Nier series, it can’t be argued that it has some of the best soundtracks. In particular, NieR: Automata’s soundtrack is as close to perfect as any soundtrack can be. Whether it’s listening to the City Ruins soundtrack, which gives an eerie feeling of loneliness, or the hopeful Weight of the World song, NieR: Automata’s soundtrack never disappoints.

The best thing about this game’s soundtrack is that every insert song is perfect for the occasion. What’s more, is that almost the entire soundtrack can be listened to without knowing it’s from a game. From listening to a NieR song while you’re traveling, to finishing the entire soundtrack during a long study session, NieR: Automata’s soundtrack deserves to stand at the top of this list.
