PlayStation Plus offers various free titles for August 2024 for players subscribed to the higher tiers of the service, Extra and Premium. The new group includes many varying titles. Some range from monster-hunting to traveling back in time to save history. It is a unique list of games for subscribers to experience. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – PS4/PS5
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is an ARPG developed by CD Projekt RED, the developers behind the most recent Cyberpunk 2077. Players take on the role of Geralt, a Witcher, a group of mercenaries dedicated to slaying monsters. In the latest title, Geralt must track down Ciri, deemed the Child of Prophecy. She is an all-powerful being hunted by the Wild Hunt group, who wish to use her power. Furthermore, players will use swords and magic to defeat enemies in Geralt’s way. The newest addition to the PlayStation Plus Extra lineup is also a Game of the Year winner.
Wild Hearts Standard Edition – PS5
Wild Hearts is a monster-hunting title similar to the Monster Hunter series. Developed by the Japanese studio Omega Force, players use various means of technology to combat monsters. Moreover, Wild Hearts boasts both single-player and co-op modes. Players can traverse a beautiful landscape alone or with friends to slay these creatures.
Cult of the Lamb – PS4/PS5
Cult of the Lamb is the 2022 indie roguelike hit from developer Massive Monster. The game thrusts players into the hoofs of a lamb saved by a stranger. Players must then go on to create a cult following (yes, you read that right!). Furthermore, those who wish to spread their following must venture out into the game’s world, which features random generation, making every playthrough different. Additionally, the game features action in the form of defending your cult by fighting rival cult leaders and various hordes that want to take what’s yours.
Ride 5 – PS5
Ride 5 is a fast-paced motorcycle racing game from developer Milestone, the studio behind Hot Wheels Unleashed. A globe-trotting thrill ride, players can choose from hundreds of lightning-fast bikes to race on over 35 race tracks. Ride 5 gives players the feeling of truly being in the seat of a bike. Every turn, lean, and racing strategy can mean the difference between winning and losing, all while going an incredible speeds.
Watch Dogs 2 – PS4
Created by Ubisoft, Watch Dogs 2 is the hacking open-world, action-adventure title that transports players to San Francisco. Stepping into the role of Marcus Holloway, join forces with the famed hacker group DedSec. Players must work to shut down Ctos 2.0, a Big Brother operating system, wanting to keep an eye on all of its citizens. To take down the system, Marcus will use various means of technology and hacking to change the technology landscape for the greater good. Furthermore, Watch Dogs 2 still boasts one of the most accurate creations of San Francisco to date.
Sword Art Online: Last Recollection – PS4/PS5
Sword Art Online: Last Recollection is one of the more recent SAO titles. It boasts the largest group of playable characters, with players mainly stepping into the role of Kirito. Last Recollection features a brand-new story as players work to combat the forces of darkness. The game features both a solo experience and up to four players in co-op.
Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris – PS4
Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris has players take Kirito on a journey through Underworld. The game is an RPG mixed with a real-time battle system. Featuring true to the anime graphics and story, players will feel like they are in the Sword Art Online anime by experiencing this adventure.
Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet – PS4
Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet features both an original story and a custom protagonist for players to create. Armed with an arsenal of different weapons to find, players will tear through enemies in this RPG. Fatal Bullet takes the series in a different direction by changing it to a third-person shooter. Therefore, it creates an even faster-paced adventure for players to enjoy.
Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization – PS4
Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization is another entry in the SAO game series, featuring a four-player co-op mode, raids, a massive open world, and much more. Taking place in Sword Art: Origin, players team up with a character named AI to explore and learn about the world. Additionally, Hollow Realization introduces a new healing system. Downed characters can rejoin a battle just as long as teammates are still up and fighting.
Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker – PS4
Naruto to Boruto Shinobi Striker is a 4v4 online battle experience in which teams square off against one another. Developed by Soleil, the game features fantastic combat akin to that of other anime titles. Shinobi Striker allows players to feel like a ninja of the famed series while also being able to compete with friends by their side. Featuring over 20 characters, the team compositions will always be unique, and you never know which character will become your main choice.

Vacation Simulator – PSVR2
Vacation Simulator is a unique title for the PSVR2 that has players dive into a world where robots work to recreate human aspects. In this instance, what do humans usually do for vacation? Players will experience various situations in a vacation setting, earning memories that can be used to unlock more vacation situations. Along with your in-game buddy, Vacation Bot, players will explore and show that humans needed some vacation time to just relax and get away from everything.
TimeSplitters – PS4/PS5
TimeSplitters is the classic first-person shooter developed by Free Radical Design and released for the PlayStation 2. Join the fight against the TimeSplitters, a group determined to change history and not for the better. Players venture across various levels throughout time to combat the evil group. The title is seen as a spiritual successor to the world-renowned Goldeneye for Nintendo 64.
TimeSplitters 2 – PS4/PS5
TimeSplitters 2 improves upon the structure of the first game. Players continue to combat the TimeSplitters group across both time and space. Featuring different adventures, players can play through the single-player journey either by themselves or with a friend in couch co-op. Additionally, the game features the return of the local multiplayer mode for those looking to bring back the classic game nights with friends and family. The game features multiple playable protagonists and timelines, just as its predecessor offers.
TimeSplitters: Future Perfect – PS4/PS5
TimeSplitters: Future Perfect is the culmination of the TimeSplitters series on PlayStation 2. However, Players fight again on the fronts of time with a twist. Rather than playing different characters, step into the role of the iconic Sergeant Cortez. As Cortez, players trek through time, hunting villain Jacob Crow to put an end to the TimeSplitters and save humanity once and for all. Like its predecessors, the game features local multiplayer so more can get in on the time-bending fun.
Sword Art Online: Lost Song – PS4
Sword Art Online: Lost Song follows Kirito, exploring the world of ALfheim Online. Originally a title for the PlayStation 3, Lost Song brings plenty of new gameplay mechanics to the series, such as Aerial Battles. Players dive into a beautiful world featuring floating isles and a vast roster of characters throughout Sword Art Online.
