It must be heartbreaking to lose a game disc because it just won’t pop out of the PlayStation 5 you put it in. Whether it’s because you put it in wrong or because something is wrong with your PS5, it’s a terrible feeling knowing it won’t come out. Fortunately, Sony thought of everything when developing the console and made it so you can manually eject the disc if you absolutely need to. So, if you’re suffering from a PlayStation 5 with a disc stuck inside, grab yourself a screwdriver and let’s get into it.
How to Remove a Stuck PS5 Disc
To remove a stuck PS5 disc, you need to first have a screwdriver of some kind. It doesn’t matter if it’s a Phillips head or a flathead screwdriver; you just need one. After you get your hands on a screwdriver, follow these instructions:
- Ensure your PS5 is completely shut off and unplugged from the power source.
- Place the console on its side, with the back facing you and the PlayStation logo facing down.
- Remove the faceplate on that side.
- Search for a circle of black plastic film and poke it with your screwdriver; there is a screw here.
- Using the screwdriver, turn the screw clockwise and watch the disc slowly come out of the drive.
- Once the disc is out, place the faceplate back on the console and plug everything in.
Check your PS5 disc to verify there aren’t any scratches, simply to verify if there is something wrong with your console’s disc drive. Once you can determine everything is okay, put your disc back in the console, make sure the console takes it from you after pushing it a bit into the disc slot (don’t force it in), and try to eject it via the console itself.
