Deleting games on any console is a massive commitment. Sure, you can reinstall most games just fine, but relieving space from your console just to replace it with something else sometimes feels like losing something only to find something new. However, it’s something that’s got to be done sometimes. Fortunately, deleting games directly off the PS4 console isn’t nearly as hard as it seems.
Down below, I’ve written out how to delete games on the PS4, remove their save data, and whether you should remove games that you have the physical copy of or not. So, without further ado, let’s get into removing those games from your PS4!
How Do You Delete Games on PS4?
Deleting games on your PlayStation 4 is pretty easy. Follow these directions after turning the console on:
- Go into your console’s Settings.
- Here, select the Storage option.
- Now, select the System Storage option.
- Select Applications and scroll through to find the game or games you want to delete.
- Click on the game you want to delete, choose the Delete option, followed by OK.
It’s important to note that once you delete a game, the only way to reinstall it is by going into the PS Store. If the game is no longer available in the store, then you’re out of luck.
How Do You Delete Save Data?
Deleting save data is similar to deleting the game itself:
- Go into your console’s Settings.
- Choose the Application Saved Data Management option.
- Select the Saved Data in System Storage option.
- Choose the Delete option.
- You will then be able to see all your applications and how much space they take. Here, you can choose multiple apps and delete them all at once.
Unlike deleting games, when you delete your saved data, there’s no getting it back. Considering that, I recommend saving your games to the Cloud Storage before deleting it completely off the console.
Should You Delete Games You Have the Physical Copy For?
Regardless of whether the game is digital or physical, it takes up the same amount of space when you put it into your PS4. So, if you see that there’s a game on your console that you physically have but haven’t played in a while, then you should delete it because it’s just wasting space.
