Did it happen to you? The dreaded PS5 download queue issue? This usually happens when you’re downloading something for the first time, whether it’s a game, movie, or whatever else you’re excited about. You might notice that your download gets stuck in the queue, not making any progress, and not giving you the option to cancel it.
Well, if you are suffering in silence, then there’s good news and bad news: there are a few possible fixes you can try, but if they don’t work, you’ll need to factory reset your console. So, to learn how to fix PS5 download queue issues, let’s start by trying to:
- Restart your PS5 console.
- Rebuild the PS5’s database.
Restart your Console
To restart your console, follow these instructions:
- Turn off your PS5 console.
- Unplug the power cable from the back of the console.
- Wait for one minute and plug the power cable back in.
- Connect your DualSense controller to the PS5 via a charging cable.
- Follow the onscreen instructions and check your download queue.
Rebuild the Console’s Database
If the above didn’t work, then try rebuilding your PS5’s database by:
- Completely turn off the PS5.
- Connect the DualSense controller to the console via cable.
- Launch the console in Safe Mode by pressing and holding the power button until there are two beeps.
- Select the Rebuild Database option.
- Follow through with the onscreen instructions.
It’s important to note that this process can potentially take a long time, so I’d recommend trying to do it overnight. Once finished, checked your download queue and see if the application you were trying to download is even there for you to resume.
Factory Reset Your PS5
As a last resort, you’ll need to factory reset your PS5. To do that, you need to:
- Go to the PS5’s Settings followed by the System option.
- Select the System Software option followed by Reset options.
- Go to the Reset Your Console option.
- Reset the console.
After all that, you will defintely have no more issue with downloaded games being stuck in limbo because, well, you pretty much cleaned out your console to the way it was when you first took it out of the box.
