The iconic sci-fi, first-person shooter series Halo has been a part of the Xbox lineage of consoles since 2001. November 15th, to be exact. For all these years, it’s been a topic of discussion on whether PlayStation players would get to experience Master Chief’s missions. Exclusives have been a thing since video games came about, and honestly, I can’t stand it. But with the gaming landscape changing in recent years, will Halo now come to the PS5?
With Microsoft bringing titles over like Sea of Thieves, the need for an Xbox is diminishing, it seems. However, while PlayStation players can even play Forza Horizon 5 and Gears of War now, Halo remains to be seen. But, with this new shift, are things changing?
Is Halo Coming to PS5?
Yes, Halo will be coming to PS5. While there are no confirmations, leaks have been around. But, even without these leaks, the last few months have shown how obvious this is. In the last year, we have seen many Xbox-exclusive games coming to PS5. More specifically, ones that we almost expected to never make it. As mentioned earlier, these were Sea of Thieves and Forza Horizon 5. And with Gears of War coming in August, Xbox is starting to send its tentpole games over. All that is left for them to do is bring Halo.
However, it’s hard to figure out which games we could be expecting. If they are aiming to bring more new fans over, it only makes sense for a port of The Master Chief Collection. That way, players can enjoy a large catalogue of the series. More specifically: Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3:ODST, Halo 4, and Halo: Reach. Plus, with there being multiplayer, the population for the game would expand greatly. Because let’s be honest, a lot of players on the Sony side want to dive into it. The hype behind Microsoft games coming to PS5 is high, and Halo takes the cake for this. In turn, once the success of Halo is seen, Halo: Infinite would likely be next, allowing the more recent iteration to receive a bigger community.
Having played Sea of Thieves, you notice a game being revived when it comes to a new platform. Players are everywhere, and even veterans return to it. So it’s no shock if the trend continues.
When Will Halo Be Coming to PS5?
Currently, it’s unknown when Halo will be coming to PS5. No definitive release date has been given, as there is no official announcement yet for the game. But with how sudden the reveals are for the past games, anytime could be possible. However, I would rather wait for some time and effort to be put into the port. That way, players get to enjoy Halo in a positive light for the first time, rather than it being rushed. From what I have played of both Sea of Thieves and Forza Horizon 5, they are fantastic ports to the PS5.
Halo Studios is also releasing a new game in the series. Therefore, it’s bound to be the perfect moment for PlayStation players to join in on the action. So when the future game releases, there is a potential for it to be bigger because of the player base being more accessible than before.
Whether it’s first landing on Halo, taking down a Scarab, or the Warthog run. The series has memorable action that all players should get to experience. So, in turn, if you are curious about whether Halo is coming to PS5? Then yes, I believe it’s going to. However, we will just have to wait until Microsoft is ready to do so. As we continue to move along, though, with gaming, it seems that dream is getting ever closer to happening.
