Despite the PS5 being the latest in Sony’sline of home consoles, it also happens to have many issues that can come from dust. Fortunately, this can be resolved by routinely cleaning your console and removing any foreign dust and debris. However, if you try cleaning you console incorrectly, a whole fluffy of other issues could arise. So, this is what you’re going to want to do to ensure that you know how to clean your PS5 safely.
Steps To Clean Your PlayStation 5 Carefully
There are two ways to clean your PS5:
- Internally
- Externally
Each of these two have their own, different ways that need to be followed in order to ensure that you are cleaning it safely.
Basic Cleaning the Outside of Your PS5
Most people don’t think to clean the outside of their PS5, but it’s just as important as the inside. Using a microfiber cloth, wipe down every surface that dust could cling to. Then using an electric duster, point the nozzle into the fan and try to get as much dust removed as possible. It’s recommended that you do this part outside because it can get very messy very easily if you haven’t cleaned your console in a while.
Disassembling and Cleaning the Inside of Your PS5
If things still aren’t working properly even after cleaning the outside of the console, then it’s time to dig deeper. To disassemble your PS5, I recommend following our instructional guide for repairing the PS5’s HDMI port. The article only covers how to repair the port, but also goes over how to disassemble your system safely. Once your console has been safely disassembled, using both a microfiber cloth an an electric duster (like when you cleaned the outside of the console) carefully wipe and blow the dust away. You will want to point the electric duster into every fan and slot cannot be taken apart that goes into the console. You will be surprised at how many places small clusters of dust will hide in.
With the microfiber cloth, go over any large pieces to remove any residual dust. After you can confidently blow air into the console for ten seconds without dust, you can safely close everything back up.
