After nearly fifteen years, Grand Theft Auto VI is finally set to release later this year. We’ve been through lots of trials and tribulations on our way to get here, so with that in mind, let’s discuss some ways to prepare for the launch of GTA VI.
How To Prepare For Grand Theft Auto VI?
Well, first off, Grand Theft Auto VI is currently scheduled to release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5. So, you’ve got the date to let your boss know if you want to play hooky from work, but should you buy it in physical or digital form?
According to reports, Rockstar Games is considering launching GTA VI digitally first to avoid spoilers, then releasing it in stores later. But, be real, you’re going to want to play these highly anticipated games as soon as possible, so preservation shouldn’t be a big deal to you anyway. If it is, well, you’re probably covering up something.
What Games Should You Play To Prepare For Grand Theft Auto VI?

Thankfully, a few years back, Rockstar Games hired Grove Street Games to remaster the original Grand Theft Auto trilogy from the early 2000s for modern platforms. This Definitive Edition got some well-deserved hate for being low effort and filled to the brim with bugs, but hey, they’ve been updated a ton, so now we’d say that the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy remaster should be your go-to to prepare for the next game in the series. But if that’s not enough, then Red Dead Redemption 2 is an easy recommendation. Sadly, there is no next-gen patch for Red Dead 2, but it still holds up incredibly well on modern consoles, and the PC version is top-notch, too. There is also L.A. Noir, which isn’t likely to affect GTA VI in the slightest, but we’d still recommend playing it for research.
Bits & Bobbs

Grand Theft Auto VI is likely to be hundreds of gigabytes, so be sure you have enough storage on your PlayStation. Plus, a 4K TV and a good audio setup are a must, as everything we’ve seen suggests GTA VI will be a landmark achievement in graphics and audio design. Oh, and consider signing up for pre-order updates from your local retailer, or just PlayStation and Rockstar in general if those digital-first reports turn out to be true.
So, yeah, hope we’ve helped you get at least a little more prepared for what is undoubtedly going to be a massive event in gaming and entertainment. Grand Theft Auto VI has been a long time coming, and all we can do now is wait. Enjoy!
