Unlike the PS4 games, Sony has allowed backwards compatibility for the PlayStation 5. You can play your purchased PlayStation 4 games on your PS5, and both digital and physical content will work. Additionally, backwards compatibility is not the only surprise. Sony has also added some upgrades to quite a few of these PS4 games, which allows them to run so much better on the PS5. It essentially turns the PS4 port into a PS5 version with the application of a free patch download. Now, some games require you to purchase this upgrade, but there is a large catalogue of games that come with the free next-generation upgrade.
All PS4 Games With PS5 Upgrades
In simple terms, a PS5 upgrade patch mostly means higher frame rates and resolutions for a game. This allows players to play through their favourite PS4 games at an increased resolution and boosted FPS. Loading times also get reduced with such upgrade patches since the PS4 titles start utilising the PS5’s SSD.
